Lobbyist can be affordable

How much does it Cost to retain a Lobbyist

A recent article entitled Lobbying 101 discuses the cost of retaining a lobbyist. Unfortunately, the misconception is that lobbyist are too expensive and out of reach for most companies. The fact is that most lobbying firm’s prices will vary depending on the size of the client, the needs of the client as well as the size of the lobbying firm. Typically, the larger the lobbying firm the more expensive they tend to be. Another determinant will be whether you the client will want state or federal lobbying assistance. Federal lobbying is typically more expensive than lobbying on the state level.
In general prices can vary from as little as $1,500 to $30,000 a month. It is also important to note that if you decide to retain a lobbyist they typically will require a one year retainer. In general, you get what you pay for. However, some firms will work with your budget and can spread the retainer out over a few years. Additionally, it is illegal for lobbyist to work on a commission however; some lobbying firms will do pro bono work for non-profits.
